Zambia 17 Kenya 8
ZAMBIA yesterday revived their hopes of retaining the All-Africa Black Ball Pool Championship after recording a second successive victory in the game against Kenya.
The defending champions started the tournament on a disappointing note, losing to hosts Tanzania 16-9 in the opening match.
Team Zambia Nkole Muntanga, Moses Mofya, Victor Sinyinza, Musonda, Juma Chilonga and Kelvin Phiri bounced back to beat South Africa 13-2.
A win against Kenya moved Zambia to eight points same as South Africa, who top the chart on account of a superior goal difference while Tanzania are in third place with seven points.
By press time, Zambia were scheduled to play Uganda in the teams’ event.
Zambia needed to beat Uganda by a wide margin in order to stand a chance of reclaiming the title.
In the singles, Mofya stormed the round of 16 while Sinyinza and Chilonga were knocked out of the competition in the round of 64.
