THE Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has asked the Road Development Agency (RDA) regional office for Southern Province to
assess the damaged Mulala Bridge in Livingstone to ascertain the required cost for its reconstruction.
DMMU regional manager for Southern Province Edwin Peleti said his office had asked RDA regional office for Southern Province to assess
the collapsed Mulala Bridge and develop a Bill of Quantity (BOQ) for its reconstruction.
On Sunday, Livingstone District Commissioner Omar Munsanje expressed hope that the DMMU would quickly find a solution to Mulala
Bridge which collapsed last week due to floods.
Mr Munsanje said the DMMU, which was working with the Zambia Army, was expected to quickly address the problem in which more
than 700 households had been cut off from the rest of Livingstone.
He also said an alternative and long route for motorists had been found through the Old Maramba Cultural Village area.
