A FORMER Kabwe Municipal Council director of engineering services has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for abuse of authority.
Cosmas Mpundu was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of abuse of authority of office.
Mpundu was jointly charged with former Livingstone Town Clerk Vivian Chikoti, who was arrested in Livingstone last week.
Chikoti was arrested for abuse of authority of office involving over K750,000.
It is alleged that Mpundu between October 1, 2012 and October 31, 2010 facilitated the engagement of William Mhango to survey land on behalf of Kabwe Municipal Council without following laid down Public Procurement procedures.
According to a statement issued by ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono, both Chikoti and Mpundu were employees of the Kabwe Municipal Council at the time of the commission of the offence.
Mpundu and Chikoti were expected to appear in the Kabwe subordinate court yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) have arrested a 29-year-old Chilenje woman for trafficking in more than 20 grammes of cocaine.
Annie Musonda was arrested for trafficking in rocks of cocaine weighing 27.3grammes.
DEC assistant public relations officer Chibu Tembo said the suspect was apprehended as she was about to transact along Kalomo road in Chilenje Township.
The commission also arrested a business executive, Webster Muzeche, for trafficking in granules of cocaine weighing 0.5 grammes.
Muzeche 32, a resident of plot 54 Makeni Township, would appear in court soon.
In another development, the DEC in Southern Province arrested a Malawian for trafficking in cannabis.
Prince Ndundambeza, 26, of Kasaka Township in Kafue was also arrested for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 6.1 kilogrammes.
Ms Tembo disclosed in a statement that Ndundambeza was apprehended at Kafue Bridge.
Mr Ndundambeza had been on the wanted list for allegedly supplying psychotropic substances in the area.
The Commission also arrested Alfred Ziba, 82, a Village Headman of Efumbeni Village in Chama District for trafficking in 2.3 kilogrammes of cannabis while Jackson Nyale, 35, a peasant farmer of Nyale Farm in Lukanda B of Kapiri Mposhi, was arrested for trafficking in cannabis weighing 10.1 kilogrammes.
