CAMEROUN coach Enow Ngachu says the Shepolopolo are capable of causing an upset at the TN Mobile 9th Africa Women Championship Namibia 2014 but only if they worked on their physique.
Speaking in an interview after watching his side tame the Shepolopolo 2-0 in a friendly match at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka on Wednesday, Ngachu said the Zambian team was capable of upsetting tables at the competition.
He said the friendly match has helped the technical bench spot the weakness and will ensure that they are worked on in the few days remaining before the start of the tournament.
Zambia is in Group A with hosts Namibia, six time champions Nigeria and Ivory Coast while Cameroun is in Group B with South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, Ghana and Algeria.
The tournament kicks off on October 11 to 25 in Windhoek and the winner, runner up and third placed teams will qualify for the 2015 Canada FIFA Women World Cup finals.
Coach Charles Bwale said the team has improved compared to when they played and lost 4-0 to South Africa in a friendly game on August 26 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Bwale said he was happy with the fitness levels of the players and was not disappointed with the results.
Meanwhile, Shepolopolo patron Charlotte Scott urged the team not to give up, saying she was impressed with what she witnessed despite Zambia losing the match.
The two teams play each other again tomorrow before heading to Namibia on Wednesday.
