CHOMA residents were last Friday evening set alight by Danny Kaya with his live performing band when he rocked the provincial capital of Southern Province to launch his newest album.
The superb launch, held at Choma Hotel, however, ran alongside with another thriving Friday gala night at Choma Museum for anniversary of the Choma Declaration of June 1973 which occurred on Saturday.
Clad in a blue T-shirt with his dazzling short dreadlock, Danny managed to pull a huge crowd of people from all walks of life who braved the somewhat freezing night to listen to his hottest songs at Choma Hotel where he performed.
In his ‘Graduate Album ‘it consists of tracks such as stupid song, Mary Mafiga, Mr Wrong, Ka beer, and Handsome, which he melodiously splashed to his fans with his bouncy band.
What outwardly started as a mind-numbing event around 19:00 hours after a handful of fans graced the Hotel’s entertainment arena, turned up to be a much celebrated occasion at the time the artist emerged on the stage around 23:30 hours.
In kicking off his album launch, Danny started with some of his old favourites such as As long As akuvela mushe, Kaya, Ku na Kwa and subsequently connected to his newest tracks such as Handsome which threw the audience in delight.
At Choma Museum, the night gala, also attended by many people clad in traditional Zambian attire, was graced by Provincial Minister Daniel Munkombwe.
The event was followed by the anniversary of the Choma Declaration of 1973 on Saturday in Shampande Township.
The gala night, in which District Commissioners (DC) from across the province were attendance, was a fundraising venture for the Golden
Jubilee anniversary on October 24, this year.
Mr Munkombwe had a word: “As Zambians, this is our country and we need to safeguard our peace and love each other,” he said. Choma Dc Bernadette Hamweemba urged stakeholders to help the district Golden Jubilee committee with any form of assistance towards holding of the national event next month.
