NEWLY crowned Southern Africa Body Building champion, Sylvester Mwila has been picked to represent Zambia at the forthcoming 2014 Africa Amateur Olympia Body Building Championship that will be staged in South Africa on October 26.
Zambia Body Building and Fitness Federation (ZBBFF) president Danny Mkandawire said in an interview yesterday that Mwila had been selected following his recent triumph at the regional tournament held in Lusaka last weekend.
The $3, 800 rich Mwila, who will be accompanied by one of the most improved body builders yet to be named, was currently shaping up for the championship at his Kabwata Gym in Lusaka.
Mkandawire said Mwila had proven fit to participate at the South Africa championship and that the federation was looking forward for a positive result.
“Sylvester is one of the competitive body builders in Zambia and as the federation, we have confidence in him but we are also considering the most improved body builder in the country to be our two representatives at the Amateur Championship in South Africa,” Mkandawire said.
Mkandawire said the ZBBFF was scouting for K25, 000 to enable the two body builders to participate at the championship.
He appealed to the business community to aid the federation in meeting its budget.
Meanwhile, Mkandawire said preparations for the Mr. Independence contest billed for Savoy Hotel in Ndola on October 23, had reached an advanced stage.
“The Mr. Independence competition will be in line with this year’s Golden Jubilee celebrations for our beloved country Zambia and I would like to urge all other firms especially on the Copperbelt to be supportive of the sport as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility,” he said.
