PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary General Edgar Lungu has condemned what he termed as the “impunity” of land grabbing, illegal land allocation and disrespect of the law by unscrupulous people masquerading as PF cadres.
Mr Lungu said at a press briefing at his office yesterday that the illegal land alienation and disrespect of the law in Zambia must stop.
He said that the illegal land alienation in Zambia and the hacking of innocent people had nothing to do with the PF cadres but some individuals who were masquerading as PF members.
“I have had meetings with the Commissioner of Lands and other stakeholders over reports that PF cadres have been involving themselves in this vice but I wish to state that the PF has got nothing to do with this,” he said.
He implored the police and other law enforcement agencies to take up the challenge and bring the culprits behind the illegal land alienation to book.
“Police should not be intimidated by criminals. Police should not ask which party someone comes from before enforcing the law. When a crime has been committed, allow the law to take its course and please leave the PF alone in these criminal activities,” he said.
He explained that the same people who destroyed MMD and UNIP had now transformed themselves as PF members and wanted to destroy the party.
“As PF, we follow the law, so if you find one PF member guilty of a crime, don’t condemn all of us,” he said.
