THE Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) has called 40 players into the provisional teams in readiness of the Zone Six Championship slated for October 21 to 25 at National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC) in Lusaka.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, ZAVA technical director Steve Kasinsa said the 40 players called into the provisional teams consists of 20 men and 20 women.
Kasinsa said that the players will assemble soon to begin intensive training with the fact that the tournament is been used as a qualifier to the All Africa Games next year.
He said he is not worried about the fitness levels of the players as they were key players in the league that ended last week.
“I have no problem with the players’ fitness levels. They have regularly been participating in the league that ended last week. We just need to fine tune on the technical skills and am positive the team will be ready by the kick off of the tournament,” he said.
He said camping of the teams required money and appealed to the corporate world to come on board and assist in the preparations.
About 10 countries are expected to participate in the tournament that includes hosts Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi and Lesotho.
