By CHILA NAMAIKO? –
SHUMPE Investment Limited, a leading local supplier of office and home furniture and electronic appliance, has opened an outlet in Choma with initial investment of about K1 million.
The firm, which is also involved in the construction industry, has been in existence for the last 15 years and has created more than 200 employment opportunities across the country.
Shumpe Investment managing director Matildah Kanyanga said at the opening of the company’s Choma branch on Monday that the firm was supplying classic household and office goods.
Ms Kanyama said the company decided to open an outlet in Choma because of Government’s recent declaration of Choma as provincial capital of Southern Province.
She said that the opening of Shumpe Investment branch in Choma would assist the local people to have a one-stop shop for their household and office goods.
‘‘We are determined to bring the best facilities that people could purchase within their locality and we are creating employment opportunities for the local people,’’ she said.
The firm has currently been operating in Lusaka and Copperbelt provinces.?Company director of finance Namaala Kanyanga said the firm was happy with Government’s creation of good investment opportunities for both local and foreign investors in the country.
She said that the company has so far created more than 200 employment opportunities and would continue to explore other ways of helping Government uplift the welfare of Zambians.
Choma District Commissioner Bernadette Hamweemba said Government was impressed with many investors coming to invest in the provincial capital and help in the creation of employment opportunities.
Ms Hamweemba said it was for that reason that Government would support any investors through creation of conducive investment platform across the country.
