FROM CHISHIMBA CHISHIMBA,  New York, USA –
PRESIDENT Michael Sata is discharging his duties normally and giving valuable guidance to his delegation, Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba has said.
Mr Kalaba told journalists here that the President was well and had been holding daily meetings at which he is giving guidance and valuable direction to the delegation.
The delegation includes Community Development, Mother and Child Health Minister Emerine Kabanshi, Lands and Environment Protection Minister Mwansa Kapeya and Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations George Chellah.
Mr Kalaba, who was flanked by Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Mwaba Kasese-Bota, said some online media publications were spreading falsehoods about the President’s health.
“The President is fine and giving directives on how we should proceed. All the meetings we are holding are being conducted under his guidance,” he said.
The minister said all members of the Zambian delegation are reporting to the President on a regular basis and he is giving valuable advice.
Meanwhile, Mr Kalaba says Zambia is concerned with little efforts being put in place towards the expansion of the United Nations (UN) Security Council.
Mr Kalaba said it was important for both Zambia and Africa at large to ensure that the Security Council was expanded.
He said at the ongoing UN general assembly that Zambia would like to see a wider and versatile UN security council that would embrace all nations.
