Zambian Breweries crowned EIZ golf champions

A ZAMBIAN Breweries team on Thursday defied all odds to be crowned the 2014 Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) Corporate Golf champions at Lusaka Golf Club.
Led by Monde Lisulo, the Zambia Breweries team posted a runaway 108 points to finish six of runners-up, First National Bank (FNB) team.
Apart from Lisulo, others in the Zambian Breweries’ winning squad were Olivia Phiri, Sarah Mukosa and Chris Mumba.
National ladies golf champion, Kaela Mulenga guided the FNB team to second-place finish on 102 points.
With Mulenga were, Paul Nkhoma and Charles Liywali.
Mulenga went on to win the ladies’ individual category after carding 36 points, two better than runner-up, Mukosa.
Gabriel Puka emerged winner in the A Division after posting 38 points and was trailed by John Sakala on 36 points.
Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Deputy Minister, Mwimba Malama, who graced the event, thanked EIZ for hosting the corporate golf tournament which he said would help in promoting the engineering profession.
Malama said there was need to encourage Zambia’s young generation to take up science, technology and mathematics which were essential in one becoming an engineer.
EIZ president Bernard Chiwala said this year’s tournament was a success and that the institute raised K250,000 from the event.
