POLICE in Kapiri Mposhi District of Central Province has arrested a 39-year-old man who on several occasions is alleged to have defiled his two nieces aged four and five.
In another related development, three people including a minor are battling for their lives in Kabwe General Hospital following a road traffic accident in Kabwe which happened on Wednesday , while the driver is on the ran.
In the Kapiri Mposhi defilement incident, the suspect identified as Moses Muwowo is alleged to have defiled two girls aged five and four on Sunday this week between 13 and 16 hours at Mushimbili farms.
Deputy Central Province Police chief Edwin Bwanga, who confirmed the development yesterday, said the suspect had been arrested and charged with three counts of defilement and would appear in court soon.
Mr Bwanga said the 64-year-old grandmother of the girls reported to the police after she found his son red-handed defiling one of the girls at their home.
He said after talking to the children it was later discovered that he had been having carnal knowledge of them every time he remained alone with them.
In another development two girls aged 13 and 14 years were defiled in Itezhi Tezhi district in two separate incidents.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old and one year and two-months-old baby have been admitted to hospital following a road accident while the driver escaped.
Mr Bwanga said the accident happened near MEMACO area after the driver of Toyota Nadia registration number ALF 2641 careered off the road and over turned due to suspected speeding.
He identified the injured as Samalina Fundiwa, 18 ,Mercy Mwanibani and another male passenger who sustained injuries and is admitted in hospital.
He said the motor vehicle was extensively damaged and that the whereabouts of the driver are not known and that the accident happed around 19:20 hours.
