THE condition of the 25-year-old Kitwe woman quarantined for suspected Ebola is stable.
The woman, however, remained at an isolation centre at Garnetone clinic where she was taken after being quarantined on Monday.
Copperbelt provincial medical officer Consity Mwale said yesterday that the patient remained in a stable condition.
Dr Mwale, who was giving an update on the condition of the women, said the patient remained at the isolation centre.
The provincial medical officer said, however, authorities were still awaiting results from the samples were taken to determine whether the woman had Ebola.
“We are expecting the results of samples to be in from Lusaka by tomorrow (today) and that is when we can have a comprehensive statement,” Dr Mwale said.
Speculations about the suspected Ebola case in Garnetone meanwhile continued to spread with some residents yesterday making false claims that the patient had since died.
On Monday, the woman who is wife to a Congolese caused fear and panic because of coughing, sneezing and vomiting; causing health authorities to quarantine her, first at Kitwe Central Hospital (KCH) fee-paying PAMSCO clinic before she was later moved to an isolation centre at Garnetone clinic.
