By SANDRA MWILA –
FORMER Mr Zambia, Sylvester Mwila has expressed confidence of winning the Southern Africa Body Building contest slated for this Friday at the Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka.
Mwila, who was stripped off his 2013 Mr Zambia title for gross misconduct and was handed a two-year ban which was later lifted by the Zambia Body Building and Fitness Federation (ZBBFF), said it would be difficult for anyone to beat him for the title.
He said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that he had trained hard for the championship and wanted to put up a good show as he makes his comeback since his ban was lifted on March 19.
“This will be my first competition after my title was stripped last year and I have adequately prepared to defeat all contestants. It will be difficult for anyone to defeat me going by the levels I have reached in my career I consider myself an international body builder,” he said.
Mwila was slapped with a two-year ban for calling the K5, 000 prize money, ZBBFF awarded him for winning the 2013 Mr Zambia title, as trash and also for accusing the federation of lacking seriousness in the manner it was running sport
Meanwhile, the ZBBFF is still scouting for K86, 000 needed to meet its K204, 000 budget towards the successful hosting of the tournament that has attracted six countries.
ZBBFF president Danny Mkandawire said the participants from South Africa, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe were expected to starting arriving in the country tomorrow.
“We are confident that we shall be able to raise the remaining money to successful host the championship that hard died a natural death having been last hosted in the 1997,” he said.
He said the 25 Zambian musclemen were ready for the competition and expressed hope that one of them would be able to retain the title that was won last won by Fred Kapendani.
