A THIRTEEN-YEAR- OLD boy of Kitwe has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after brutally stabbing a security guard with a knife.
The juvenile offender stabbed Dominic Changwe on November 26, last year causing serious wounds on his back and stomach.
The boy appeared before High Court Judge-in-charge Catherine Makungu where he said he understood the charge and admitted it.
He was earlier charged with murder but it was reduced to manslaughter.
Reading out the statement of facts, State advocate Chali Hambayi said on November 10, last year, Mr. Changwe, a security guard at Lifelong School was manning the premises when he saw a boy jump over the fence after being chased by a dog.
Mr Changwe recognised the juvenile offender as the boy that had been suspended from school for allegedly exhibiting bad behaviour.
The court heard that the boy was chased from the school premises but he refused, a scuffle ensued and later the boy produced a knife from his pocket and stabbed Mr Changwe on the back and stomach.
The boy attempted to flee but he was apprehended by members of the public who took him to Garneton police post.
Mr Changwe, who was bleeding profusely, was rushed to Kitwe Central hospital where he died after two weeks.
The matter comes up on September 29, this year for social welfare report and sentencing.
In the same court, a 35-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment with hard labour for sodomising a 12-year-old boy.
Ms Justice Makungu sent to jail Victor Mabimbi of Twatasha Township in Kitwe after he was convicted of unnatural offences by the lower court.
Mabimbi, a football coach, was accused of having sex with the boy against the order of nature and later gave the victim K5 to buy a drink.
The boy had testified that Mabimbi, called him to his house to showed him video games but afterwards sodomised him
Mabimbi warned the boy not to reveal his ordeal to anyone.
