THE Ndola Squash Club is scouting for K40,000 to successfully host the 2014 annual Judge Lloyd Siame Open Championship slated for November 28 to 30.
Club chairperson Model Kanyimbo said in an interview that the Judge Lloyd Siame championship was an important tournament that needed serious attention.
Kanyimbo said the club was targeting at having about 80 entries nationwide and will have four categories.
The club recently hosted the 2014 Zambia Closed Squash tournament in July that was won by Mwinga Lengwe and Sharon Chimfwembe in the male and female categories respectively.
“We are targeting about 70-80 entries nationwide because we will be having four categories namely the juniors, veteran, ladies and men. The club is targeting to stage a more exciting tournament this year that would attract players from across the country,” Kanyimbo said.
He said the club had approached a number of companies to provide financial and material support in ensuring that the championship is a success.
Meanwhile, Kanyimbo said the project to rehabilitate the remaining two of the three courts at the club was still on course.
The club recently raised K20,000 to finance the refurbishment of one court with the works expected to start soon.
Kanyimbo appealed to the corporate world to help the club meet the costs of carrying out the works that will see each court gobbling K20,000.
