CHAMPIONS Nkana today visit Konkola Mine Police seeking an elusive first away win over their hosts in the MTN/FAZ Super League.
Mine Police, placed 15th on the log, host fifth positioned Nkana at Konkola Stadium in a Week 24 fixture in Chililabombwe where the home side has not tasted defeat since July 19.
Nkana’s best results away to Mine Police have both been draws since the Chililabombwe club was promoted in 2012.
Last season Nkana left Chililabombwe with a goalless draw while it was 1-all in the 2012 campaign.
“We will try by all means to change things, they (Nkana) are defending champions but it doesn’t guarantee them to win all the games.
They have won some and lost some, it is part of the game. So we are ready for them,” Mine Police coach Bruce Mwape said.
And despite Mine Police status in the relegation zone, they head into the match unbeaten at home in their last three games.
Mine Police beat Konkola Blades and National Assembly 1-nil and 2-1 respectively and prior to that were held to a 1-all draw by Power Dynamos. Bruce Mwape’s side’s last defeat at home came on July 19 when they lost 1-nil to Green Buffaloes.
Meanwhile, Nkana who are fresh from their 2014 Barclays Cup quarterfinal win over archrivals Power Dynamos will be banking on the firepower of Ronald Kampamba, Simon Bwalya and Festus Mbewe to try and end their winless record against Mine Police.
A win this afternoon will potentially lift Nkana up into fourth place to displace Napsa Stars.
However, Nkana will need Nchanga Rangers to beat Napsa who will be in action in the lunchtime kick off at the same venue. Nkana and Napsa have 39 and 41 points respectively.
