A TWENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD block maker of Chilenje Township in Lusaka has denied having sex with a dog.
Shadreck Phiri told, magistrate Humphrey Chitalu that he was not guilty of the offence.
This is in a matter in which Phiri is facing one count of bestiality.
After the charge was read out to him by Mr Chitalu, Phiri told the court that although he understood the offence he is facing, he was not guilty.
It is alleged that Phiri was caught having sex with a dog.
In another development, An administration manager at Zamstone, a quarrying company based in Lusaka west has pleaded not guilty to obstructing inspectors from the Zambia Environmental and management Agency (ZEMA).
Chimuka Himachila, has pleaded not guilty to another count of refusing to give reasonable assistance to ZEMA inspectors who served a compliance order to the quarrying company for abrogating the environmental management act.
Mr Himachila is alleged to have refused to sign a compliance order from the agency and also obstructed an inspector in her course of duty on August 28.
Operations at the quarrying company have since been suspended following ZEMA inspectors’ issuance of a compliance order for breaching the Environmental Management Act.
The company is alleged to have not put up sufficient measures to mitigate the amount of dust that was coming out of the plant.
