GOVERNMENT has released about K800, 000 for the construction of the district administration block in Itezhi Tezhi.
Itezhi Tezhi District Commissioner George Sichula said the district had received the money and the contractor was on site.
Mr Sichula said the contractor had moved to the site and had started grading the area, adding that he was hopeful that the building would be completed by next year.
“I would like to inform the people that the Government has released K800, 000 as part of the money for the construction of the district administration block and a local contractor has been engaged,” Mr Sichula said.
Mr Sichula said most of the Government officers in different departments in the district were accommodated at a ZESCO house which was been used as temporary offices.
He added that the issue of accommodation was a major challenge in the district which he said was about to change as there were a number of infrastructure development taking place.
Mr Sichula said the district would soon experience a boom in all sectors as the Government has decided to take development to the area.
“The district will soon transform into a well-established district as the Patriotic Front (PF) Government has embarked on taking development to all parts of the country through linking them up with other districts,” Mr Sichula said.
Mr Sichula said the roads in the district were being done and the district would have eight health centers constructed in the area to enhance health care delivery.
He said the district had for a long time been lagging behind in terms of development in all sectors but would now be developed as the Government has promised to improve people’s lives.
