THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has written to the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) to register its displeasure concerning the misconduct of the delegation leaders before and after the Niger 2015 Africa Junior Championship final round first leg played at Nkoloma Stadium last weekend.
FAZ executive member Lee Kawanu told journalists in Lusaka yesterday that Football House wrote to FUFA on Tuesday to complain on the misconduct of Uganda coach Mathias Lule and team manager.
Kawanu, who is in-charge of youth football, said the Uganda’s delegation during the pre-match meetings alleged that their team was scared to eat food because there was a possibility of food poisoning.
Kawanu said the Uganda team manager passed comments that were out of order that even surprised the match commissioner from Malawi.
He said the comments of Lule that Zambia might be using a different Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan were suggesting incompetence in the Zambian medical profession.
“How can someone say the MRI scan in Zambia is different?” he said.
Meanwhile, coach Chris Kaunda said in an interview after morning training session that they are focused and ready to meet Uganda on the pitch in Kampala on September 27.
Kaunda said the team is not intimidated by the noise Uganda were making on the Under 17 players being over age but are concentrating on winning their decisive game in Kampala next week Saturday.
He said Lule should concentrate on preparing his team for the crucial encounter that will determine the fate of both teams for a place at the Africa Junior Championship.
He said the continuous talk of Zambia using over age players will physiological affect the Uganda players because they will be going into the game with fear while it will work to Zambia’s advantage.
