THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Transparency?International Zambia (TIZ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding?to jointly fund this year’s Zambia Bribe Payers Index (ZBPI).
ACC director-general Rosewin Wandi said the MoU would enable ACC and?TIZ to combine resources to conduct a survey which would lead to the?release of the 2014 ZBPI.
She said the Index was an important indicator in the fight against?corruption as it provided measurement of the incidences of bribery in?Government departments and the parastatal sector.
She was speaking during at the signing ceremony in Lusaka on Tuesday?saying the partnership was very important to the commission as it was?responsible for preventing corruption in the country.
She said it would also enable the commission to conduct a survey on?the day-to-day bribes in the country.
She also added that it would help the two organisations to have empirical anti-corruption data that will inform strategies and approaches to reduce bribery incidences in institutions.
Ms Wandi said the MoU would also enable the two institutions to measure the progress on the implementation of activities relating to national anti-corruption policy indicators.
TIZ Director Goodwell Lungu said the MoU was important as it was drawing a common understanding between the two institutions in the fight against corruption.
