UNITED Kingdom Sport’s Graham Mounsaye will be on the Copperbelt from September 18  to 20, 2014, as part of the on-going Ideals Partnership between the Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) and UK Sport.
During his brief stay on the Copperbelt, Mounsaye will meet with the ZBA president, Shawki Fawaz and members of the Northern Region Executive to assess progress made in the implementation of programmes that were earlier laid down.
Zambia basketball north vice president Andrew Nyirenda said in an interview that UK Sport has been providing expertise to help develop the sport of basketball in technical and administrative areas.
He said this was with a view of increasing capacity building in the Northern Region in Zambia.
“UK sport has this year provided two other experts, Peter Mintoft and Chris Banks, who helped with the coaching aspects of the game,” Nyirenda said.
Nyirenda said part of the visit would include attendance at a school’s basketball tournament which would be held at Lechwe School in Kitwe on Saturday.
He said Mounsaye would also visit various sites in the region to assess the current state of basketball infrastructure.
Meanwhile, a meeting with club officials is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, after which Mounsaye will return to Lusaka on Sunday September 21.
