“I can confirm that my father died this morning after an illness,” Mr Matoka said.
The late Mr Matoka was once a lecturer at the University of Zambia and later became vice-chancellor of Copperstone University, the position he held at the time of his death.
The funeral is being held at the deceased’s residence at house number 26 B, Mosi Road in Ibex Hill.
The deceased is survived by a wife, children and grandchildren. Burial arrangements are still being made.
Retired politician Vernon Mwaanga described the demise of the freedom fighter as a devastating loss to the country.
