THE defunct Kapiri Glass factory in Kapiri Mposhi District is set to reopen soon.
Kapiri Mposhi acting District Commissioner Jackson Mutale said once re-opened, the factory would be producing bottles for global brewer SABMiller which has subsidiaries in Zambia.
Mr Mutale said the re-opening of the factory will create 500 jobs and stimulate other economic activities in the district through multiplier effects.
ZANIS reports that Mr Mutale said this on Tuesday when Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Deputy Minister Mwimba Malama paid a courtesy call on him at his office.
Meanwhile, Mr Malama called on the district administration in Kapiri Mposhi to ensure that it monitored all contractors engaged to construct various Government projects.
