ZAMBIA Under-17 captain Patson Daka has said like their Under-20 compatriots, they will qualify to the African championships after the last round of qualifiers that start this Friday against Uganda in Lusaka.
He promised that the team will make it to the 2015 Niger Africa Junior Championship regardless of which opponent comes their way.
Daka said the team was well prepared for the challenge ahead as they face Uganda on Friday at the Nkoloma Stadium in the first leg.
“The game on Friday will determine our fate in the qualifiers. Our target is to beat Uganda at home with a big score margin and just wrap-up the qualifier when we face them in the last game Kampala,” he said.
He said the team was aware that Uganda is a strong side and that they will neither underrate nor overrate them but play with the aim like they always do, which is to win.
And in a practice match, the team played a friendly against amateur side Kabwata Dynamos whom they battered 9-0.
Coach Chris Kaunda said his boys played a good game which is an indication that they were ready for the game against Uganda.
“The boys are ready to face Uganda and we are not in any kind of pressure all we want is to do is book a place in the Africa Championship,” he said.
Kaunda said the team was impressing and was confident they will give the fans a good game on Friday.
