POLICE in Chinsali have recovered the body of a man suspected to have been murdered, after it was found floating on the Chambeshi River.
The man’s arms and legs were bound together and the body had several visible injuries when it was retrieved.
Muchinga Deputy Police Commissioner, Bonny Kapeso, said the body of Malesi Mulenga, in his 40s, of Mwika village, was found by passers-by.
Mr Kapeso said Mr Mulenga and another person, Brenda Kapamba, had been missing for a while.
“The body of Mr Mulenga was spotted floating in the Chambeshi River in Chibunda village,” he said.
Mr Kapeso said the body, which was found around 07:00 hours on Sunday, was identified by a relative, Aaron Mulenga.
Mr Kapeso said Mr Mulenga was suspected of practicing witchcraft by some people in the area, with Ms Kapamba, who was still missing.
The Deputy Police Chief said police had opened a murder docket, while the body of Mr Mulenga had been buried.- ZANIS
