THE Drug-Enforcement Commission (DEC) has unearthed a scam in which some residents of Matero Township in Lusaka have been producing fake national registration cards (NRCs) and drivers’ licences.
DEC public relations officer Theresa Katongo said the anti-money laundering investigations unit arrested two suspects.
Ms Katongo named the duo involved in the scam as Sydney Kangwa, 35, and Michael Mushanga, 19.
The Commission has since seized six computer processing units, five computer monitors, three scanners, three printers, two laptops, two ipads, one Sony digital camera, two flash discs, two carton boxes containing blank drivers’ licences, 30 already-made licences and four national registration cards.
Ms Katongo said some of the items seized were being used by the suspects in making fake IDs.
The suspects were in custody and would appear in court soon.
