By JULIUS PHIRI –
VICE-PRESIDENT Guy Scott has said the Government will buy more maize than the targeted 500,000 metric tonnes.
Dr Scott also said the people of Kasenengwa and Vubwi should emulate the just-ended Mangango parliamentary by-election where the Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Rodgers Lingweshi scooped the election.
Speaking during a Press briefing in Chipata yesterday, Dr Scott said people should ensure that they vote for PF candidates in the by-elections slated for September 11.
“I know that Mangango set the pace in the parliamentary by-election. I am sure that the trend will be the same because it looks like the ground is fertile for PF in Eastern Province,” he said.
The Vic-President commended Eastern Province Minister Malozo Sichone for barring Lusaka and Chipata PF cadres from travelling to places where by-elections were taking place.
Dr Scott said the PF could not intimidate any person, adding that the party would be there to promote free and fair elections.
The Vice-President was also happy with the party organisation where he said the people were keen to vote for PF candidates in the by-elections.
He said the people of Eastern Province did not want to be left out in the development process, adding that they had shown willingness to work with the PF Government.
