NKANA midfielder Tony Odur is expected to be out of action for at least one week.
The Uganda winger sustained a knee injury last Wednesday during Nkana’s rescheduled MTN/FAZ Super League Week 17 fixture away to Konkola Blades in Chililabombwe that the visitors lost 1-nil.
Nkana team manager Charles Chakataziya said Odur was discharged from Wusakile Hospital in Kitwe yesterday where he was transferred to on Thursday after he was earlier admitted to Konkola Mine Hospital in Chililabombwe on Wednesday.
“Tony was discharged Friday morning and he will attend his review on September 12,” Chakataziya said.
Odur twisted his right knee in the 35th minute of the first half at Konkola Stadium and was replaced by Shadreck Musonda.
The development means Odur will miss tomorrow’s Week 23 doubleheader at Nkana Stadium when Nkana host Indeni.
Roan United and Nakambala Leopards will play in the lunchtime kick off at the same venue.
Coach Beston Chambeshi described the defeat as a setback in his side’s title defence ambitions.
“It is a setback when you know you are fighting for the league title. But we now have to look forward to our next game. We didn’t play according to our plans and we conceded an early goal and you know when you play away from home and concede an early goal it is difficult to come back,” he said.
Nkana stay put in fifth place on 32 points, 12 behind leaders Zanaco after 19 and 22 games played respectively. Blades moved from eighth to sixth place on 29 points from 22 games.
