THE church has called on the media to help build its image so that it can remain a bedrock of morality in society.
Ndola Ministers’ Association chairperson George Palo said at a media forum at the Ndola Baptist Church that the media should report positively about the church so that it remained a reference point for morality.
Reverend Palo said he was concerned that the media was mostly exposing negative happenings in the church.
He said the media should also report on the positive activities the church was undertaking, as well as some campaigns various churches were involved in to help maintain morality in the country.
“The media is an important tool in society and we are very grateful for the job they are doing in keeping people informed, but we are asking for greater objectivity and greater understanding between the church and the media,” Rev Palo said.
He said it was not wrong for journalists to report on the bad things happening in the church because the church was meant to teach people good morals and not to destroy them.
Rev Palo said journalists should investigate more on people calling themselves pastors because some were not men of God but witch doctors masquerading as preachers.
