GOVERNMENT has purchased a state-of-art ambulance for Mufulira District at the cost of K850, 000 from Germany.
The ambulance, which is equipped with advanced life support facilities, would enable patients in a critical condition receive treatment on board, while being transferred to the Hospital.
Mufulira District Commissioner Chanda Kabwe said Government was determined to ensure that Zambians receive proper health services.
Mr Kabwe said Government was concerned about the welfare of Zambians and, therefore, it would ensure that health services and other facilities were delivered to the citizens.
“I am very delighted for the central Government to consider my district by purchasing a state-of-the- art ambulance equipped with advanced worldclass life support and other medical facilities.
“The brand new ambulance was bought at the cost of K850, 000 from Europe and it is stationed at Mufulira District Health Management team office totalling the number of ambulances to five in the district,” he said.
Mr Kabwe urged the medical fraternity to guard jealously the new ambulance against vandalism and abuse as it was the property of the people of Mufulira.
He also said Government had purchased an ultra-modern body scanner to screen for the Ebola virus in those entering the country from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at Mokambo Border Post.
