Buffaloes 2 Assembly 2
GREEN Buffaloes were pegged back from two goals to the good and a man up before drawing against National Assembly in this rather physical game played before empty Woodlands Stadium stands.
Buffaloes went ahead in the 18th minute when Kennedy Chola converted a penalty after Kabamba Chilibwe handled in the box before a moment of madness saw Assembly defender Sam Simukonda sent off for needlessly kicking Felix Sunzu junior in the back in Buffaloes’ half on 30 minutes.
And from that free kick, pushed forward and Sebastian Mwansa scored but Peter Mwangani got a scrappy goal back before half time there was however, no luck in the second goal as Mwangani’s good feet work left Buffaloes defender Dennis Banda stranded before he positioned himself to slot in neatly passed Davy Kayumbwa.
With statistics reading five straight draws for Buffaloes, the wastefulness upfront and a feeble defence could be to blame for the club who sit in 12th place with 24 points from 22 games while Assembly are two points better and a position higher.
From Chililabombwe, Nkana lost 1–0 against Konkola Blades in this match played at Konkola Stadium.
Nkana, who are defending league champions, suffered a setback in their bid to retain the title as they were silenced by a determined Blades side in the rescheduled MTN-FAZ Week 17 fixture.
Striker Anos Tembo scored an all important goal in the 34th minute to lift the Chililabombwe outfit two notches up into sixth place on the log with 29 points, three behind Nkana, who are fifth with two games to spare.
