THE Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) has expressed worry about the increasing number of immigrants amid confirmation of Ebola cases in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Zambia has witnessed an upsurge of illegal immigrants with 32, including eight Congolese whose country last week confirmed the first case of the deadly Ebola, which has killed more than 1,000 people in West Africa.
ZMA president Aaron Mujajati said it was clear that there were porous borders going by the number of illegal immigrants who were being arrested in different townships of Lusaka.
Dr Mujajati said there was need for the Zambian Government to designate places, especially near all border posts where cases of Ebola could be treated.
Meanwhile, Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) president Whyson Munga said there was need for Zambians to be quarantined and supported through establishing health centres in most parts of the country.
