In the recent years, Zambia as a nation has experienced cases of unfair treatment of old people, where they are killed under the pretext that they are suspected witches or wizards and a lot of humiliation has been imposed on them.
I would advise the Government to look into this matter seriously and to build a modern complex of old peoples home here in Zambia which will be monitored by the authorities under a relevant ministry.
This will help protect our old people who have no voice to be heard considering that very little attention has been directed towards their well-being.
When we look at Matero home for the old, one can shed tears, no care is given to the old people there. We can give blankets and a lot of foodstuff but it goes beyond that, they need to be well taken care of by people who have a passion to look after them.
We can get examples from Namibia, for example, that has built a home for the aged people. We can also do it, yes, we can and to all loving Zambians, a day is coming when we are going to be old and what will happen if our beloved ones turned against us in the close of our life?
Every human being would want a happy ending when departing from mother earth!
