PROFLIGHT Zambia has reduced air fares for young flyers, giving children even more opportunity to explore Zambia.
Proflight director of Government and industry affairs Captain Philip Lemba said the airline had also broadened the age range for youngsters eligible for discounted fares, enabling anyone under the age of 18 to qualify for reduced fares.
Capt Lemba said the new policy would come into effect from September 1, 2014 and would continue until further notice for bookings made from Zambia and Malawi.
“Proflight Zambia’s vision is for as many people as possible to see the wonders of our nation – and we firmly believe that starts with encouraging the younger generation to explore the sights, sounds and tastes of their heritage,” Capt Lemba said.
He said the airline’s new fare system meant that children aged between two and 17-years-old would now pay half of the adult fare, a discount of 50 per cent, instead of the previous discount of 25 per cent and infants under two-years will pay just 10 per cent of the full fare.
Capt Lemba said young flyers would also receive spot prizes on selected scheduled slights to keep them entertained during flights.
He said child bookings made outside of Zambia and Malawi would remain at the existing industry-standard fare scale, paying 75 per cent of the adult fare, if aged between two and 11-years-old.
Capt Lemba said Proflight’s new children’s fares came in the wake of the airline’s announcement that it was offering up to 20 per cent discounts on flights for recognised holders of international student identity cards (ISIC), under a new agreement initiated by STA Travel, the world’s largest student travel company.
