GOVERNMENT says it is happy with the local integration of Angolan refugees in Zambia.
North-Western Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu said the integration of Angolans was a positive move by the Zambian Government as it showed its willingness to assist displaced people.
Mr Mubukwanu said this when officials from United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees UNHCR called on him yesterday.
He said Zambia would remain committed to helping refugees that had fled conflict in their countries.
The minister said Zambia had done remarkably well in terms of welcoming refugees who were in a desperate situation.
Mr Mubukwanu said conflict and violence was retrogressive to people and need to be curbed.
United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for refugees Alexander Aleinikoff urged the Zambian Government to continue supporting the refugees.
He thanked Government for creating a peaceful environment for refugees in Maheba as well as Mayukwayukwa resettlement areas.
