AFTER successfully launching his Samukokoto album last month, artiste Noel Chiinga popularly known as Kuza is today expected to kick-start his Eastern province music tour with a gig at Chipata’s Wild life lodge.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the music fiesta will shift to Katete’s Malo Gardens where the singer is anticipating to wow the fans who will throng the town to attend this year’s Kulamba traditional ceremony.
“My promoter has been working hard to organise the three shows in Eastern province and I am urging all my fans to turn up in large numbers as I am promising them the very best in music shows” he told DStv Entertainment.
His 16 track album features artistes such as the Organised Family, Israel formerly called Exile and Impi and contains what one would describe as easy on the ear rhythms of both the old and the new generation.
Among the songs that are expected to charm his followers in the East, include tracks such Chabe featuring Impi, Kuwana which features the Organised Family and Naine a duet with Israel.
“The album has mature kind of music because I am also trying to revive and promote Mbunga music which is predominantly in Western province. Unfortunately, for a long time, we have not had singers who have been able to produce Mbunga music”, says Kuza.
The 30-year-old former pupil of Phelm O ‘ High School in Lukulu says there is need for artistes to revive their culture through music as the country celebrates 50 years of independence.
“As we celebrate the country’s golden jubilee, we need to be proud of our rich culture and as artistes we can only appreciate our culture through music”, he notes.
Kuza says he was inspired to perfect traditional kind of music by his grandfather Dick Kalubi, who used to compose and play traditional music in the bygone years.
“A lot of people are appreciating my music … for instance, last month, when I staged shows in Western province; Mongu’s Drunken Fish was filled to capacity. I shared the stage with local talent such as the Barotse Band, Litonga Band and One Eva,” says Kuza.
The singer will end his Eastern Province music shows with a gig on Sunday at the Mwami border post.
