MIDFIELD maestro Rainford Kalaba and striker Given Singuluma are today expected to join the Chipolopolo camp ahead of Sunday’s friendly match against Sudan at the Heroes National Stadium.
The two will be joined by their TP Mazembe colleagues Jonas Sakuwaha and Kabaso Chongo as the only four foreign based players that have so far confirmed their availability in Honour Janza first match since taking over as Chipolopolo trainer.
This will also be the first game for Singuluma since 2012 when he was dropped from the Chipolopolo training camp in South Africa prior to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
Sakuwaha comes back to the squad having last played for Zambia during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Sudan in June, 2013 before suffering a long-term foot injury followed by snubs from Herve Renard and Beaumelle.
Kalaba missed Zambia’s last match against Japan owing to Mazembe CAF 2014 Champions League Group A match against Al Hilal.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) communications manager Nkweto Tembwe said the quartet were finalising their administrative procedures with their club and were expected in the country today.
“These are the only foreign based players that have so far confirmed their availability for the game and we expect them in the country tomorrow (today). The team is in good spirits and looking forward to Sunday,” he said.
FAZ has pegged gate charges at K500 VIP and K80 all round with sales expected to start today at all Lusaka Post Office outlets while the VIP tickets would be sold at Football House.
Zambia is using the match against Sudan as part of preparations for the Morocco 2015 AFCON qualifiers that will see the Chipolopolo take on Mozambique at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on September 6.
Meanwhile, FAZ has imposed restrictions on the purchase of tickets ahead of Mozambique clash.
FAZ treasurer Kelvin Mutafu said in an interview yesterday that no individual soccer fans will be allowed to buy more than five tickets when they go on sale next week.
Mutafu said the move was aimed at curtailing the selling of tickets at exorbitant prices on the black market.
“We will not allow bulk buying of tickets because this usually causes panic so we feel restricting the number of tickets being sold a single fan will be ideal,” he said.
Mutafu said VIP tickets will be pegged at K500 with the lowest fetching K50 and will be sold at the Zambia Postal Office outlets in Lusaka, Kabwe and the Copperbelt.
