THE Zambia Army has commended and recruited multi-talented athlete Kabange Mupopo following her exploits at the recently held Senior African Championship where she minted a silver medal.
Zambia Army Deputy Commander Topply Lubaya applauded Mupopo, who is also Shepolopolo captain, for having represented the nation well in Morocco by winning a medal in the 400m finals.
Prior to her recruitment in the Zambia Army, Mupopo was part of the Green Buffaloes Athletics Club.
This is according to a statement released by Luswepo Sinyinza after Mupopo presented her medal to the Deputy Commander at the army headquarters in Lusaka on Tuesday.
He said the Zambia Army expected all sportsmen and women in the system to apply themselves wholeheartedly whenever they represented the country in various competitions.
Mupopo, who also took part in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games where she reached the semi-finals to earn a place at the Senior African Championship, expressed happiness that the army had recognised her work.
She said the gesture shown by the army command would make her work even harder as she prepared to compete in the World Championships set for next month.
