CAMPAIGNS in Kasenengwa Constituency in Eastern Province have heightened up with all candidates promising to scoop the two seats.
Immediate past Member of Parliament (MP) for Kasenengwa, Victoria Kalima said she was not worried with any opponent in the race.
Ms Kalima who is re-contesting the Kasenengwa seat on the MMD ticket said she was conducting issue-based campaigns to canvass support.
“I am not worried at all with these opponents of mine in Kasenengwa,” she said.
Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Gideon Zulu said the distribution of chitenge materials by MMD bearing the portrait of former President Rupiah Banda in the campaigns did not scare him.
Mr Zulu said he knew Kasenengwa very well adding that he would put in the very best to grab the seat.
“I am not scared by the campaigns of MMD who are busy distributing the Chitenge materials bearing the portrait of Mr Rupiah Banda and as far as I am concerned, the MMD president is Nevers Mumba not Rupiah,” he said.
Mr Zulu said he was explaining to the people what he would do in Kasenengwa Constituency once elected into office.
United Party for National Development (UPND) candidate Timothy Nyirenda said the opposition political party was ready to grab the seat.
Khubwiza Daka, who is contesting the seat on UNIP ticket promised that once elected into office, she would assist the people of Kasenengwa through lobbying for better water supply in the constituency.
In Vubwi, PF have fielded Margaret Miti while the MMD has adopted Dr Eustarckio Kazonga, with Alfonso Phiri standing on the UPND ticket while the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) is fielding Charles Nyoka and Lucas Phiri on UNIP ticket.
