A NINETEEN -YEAR-OLD man of Kapiri Mposhi has beaten his friend to death following a scuffle in a night club.
The incident happened after 01:00 hours yesterday at a night club when Osward Mutambo fought with Aibton Kapembwa after a difference.
Central Province Commissioner of Police Standwell Lungu explained that Mr Mutambo was overpowered during the fight with Mr Kapembwa and that he died instantly when he fell to the ground.
Kapembwa has since been arrested.
Meanwhile, the Chisamba couple that was attacked by a group of bandits armed with machetes and knives and robbed them of K62,000 has been discharged from hospital.
The couple had just sold their maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) and had not banked the cash when they were attacked by five armed men who broke into the couple’s house in Chipilepile area.
Lovell Chisumpa, 40, and his 35-year-old wife Agness who were admitted to Liteta District Hospital nursing serious injuries, were discharged yesterday with their condition described as stable.
Mr Chisumpa sustained a cut on his head, swollen thigh and bruised body while his wife sustained broken ribs and other injuries.
Meanwhile, police have continued the search for a man of Chisamba who allegedly murdered his 32-year-old wife and later bolted after he allegedly found used and unused condoms in her handbag when she got home late from a drinking spree.
Mr Lungu identified the deceased as Jane Lwanga of Kalengwa Farm, who had deep cuts on the back of her head. Her body is in Liteta Hospital mortuary.
Police are looking for her husband, Comrade Mudenda, 41, who is now on the run.
Ms Lwanga arrived home around 04:00 hours on Sunday and a fight broke out after her suspicious husband searched her handbag and found the condoms.
Mr Lungu said the couple’s neighbours were awakened by screams for help and later checked the house, only to discover the woman’s body in a pool of blood.
