THREE Chipolopolo call-ups from Power Dynamos, who include goalkeeper Joshua Titima, have limped into national soccer team camp in Lusaka nursing injuries.
Titima, midfielders Richard Kasonde and Kennedy Mudenda all sustained their injuries in Power’s 2-1 home win over Zesco United.
Power coach Tennant Chilumba said in an interview that he had not received a comprehensive medical report on the injured trio.
“We are still waiting for a full report from the medical staff before I can say anything,” Chilumba said.
Titima has a shin injury after he was stepped on in stoppage time of the game at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe and had to be stretchered off to the dressing room after the final whistle.
Mudenda limped off in the 89th minute with a suspected hamstring while Kasonde did not return for the second half and he also has a suspected muscle problem. Power has contributed four players who include midfielder Julius Situmbeko, who also played in the 2-1 win over Zesco.
However, the trio all travelled to camp in Lusaka yesterday to be assessed by the Chipolopolo medical team. Power has four players called up for the August 30 friendly against Sudan to be played at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
Meanwhile, Zambia Under-17 coach Chris Kaunda has called six players from the recently held Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) countrywide selection process to beef up the team that starts preparations for the Niger 2015 Africa Junior Championship (AJC) qualifier against Uganda next month.
Kaunda said the six players had shown maturity and hunger to get straight into his flying team that beat Botswana 6-0 on aggregate in the previous rounds.
Zambia will play Uganda, who eliminated Rwanda 7-2 on aggregate, in the third and last round of qualifiers with the first leg set for September 13 in Lusaka with the return coming a fortnight later.
The new call-ups are goalkeeper Mulenga Mulenga (Lusaka), defenders Joseph Chanda, Bredford Chibuye and Teddy Mweetwa (Zambezi, Luapula and Kalomo respectively) and strikers are Peter Nyirenda of Kabwe and Maybin Kalengo from Livingstone.
The full squad has goalkeepers Daniel Sikanyika, Derrick Sichangwe, Jackson Kakunta and Mulenga Mulenga.
Defenders are Joseph Chanda Teddy Mweetwa, Prosper Chiluya, Edward Chimfwembe, Gift Sikaonga, Salati Lungu, Bredford Chibuye, Wayne Museba and Garry Mwelwa with the midfielders being Siame Musonda, Enock Mwepu, Changwe Kalale, Kenneth Sakala, Edwin Chipile, Stephen Chulu, Kapasha Musonda, Shadreck Kambwili, Mwansa Mwila and Victor Chungu.
Team captain Patson Daka leads the strikers who also include Pumulo Siwanga, Francisco Mwepu, John Kapufi, Kingsley Musabula, Mike Bisesa, Peter Nyirenda and Maybin Kalengo.
