JUSTICE Minister Wynter Kabimba says the Church plays a critical role in national development.
Mr Kabimba observed that the Church also provides spiritual guidance in State affairs.
The minister said this during the Annual Conference for United Church of Zambia (UCZ) presbytery women Christian fellowship at Kasaka Fisheries in Kafue District.
Mr Kabimba reaffirmed Government’s commitment to working with the Church in issues concerning women in Zambia.
He added that Government was also committed to harmonising the existing relation between the State and the Church.
He was speaking at a blousing ceremony of 415 UCZ women, saying that also reflects the importance the Church attached to gender issues.
Mr Kabimba said the recognition of women by the Church coincides with the appointment of women in key importance positions by President Michael Sata.
Mr Kabimba has since commended the UCZ for investing in the education sector.
He cited Kafue Boys’ School, Njanse and Chipembe Girls’ Secondary schools which are run by the UCZ as some of the institutions that have benefited the Zambian people. – ZANIS
