By CHUSA SICHONE in Mungwi District –
MALOLE Member of Parliament (MP) Christopher Yaluma says he will continue to support the people of Malole Constituency using various means besides the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Mr Yaluma said this on Thursday in Mungwi District in Northern Province after he donated a second hand canter truck to Malole Constituency worth about K170,000,00 and handing over three wheelchairs which he bought using his own money.
“Let me tell you one thing, if I start talking about my gratuity then am saying am limiting my service provision to these people to my gratuity. I think everyday whatever I do it’s the little that I have; I wouldn’t bank it on my gratuity,” he said.
Mr Yaluma, who is also Mines, Energy and Water Development Minister, said it was not the first time he was using his own money to assist people in his constituency and that the decision to buy a vehicle for Malole Constituency was in response to persistent outcries from his constituents.
Mr Yaluma was optimistic that the vehicle would be able to address the transportation challenges in Mungwi District and Malole Constituency as a whole.
He said he had donated more than 80 bicycles in the constituency to ease the transportation problem but that some PF members were unable to reach distant areas and thus the vehicle would somewhat help in reaching those places for party mobilisation, among other activities.
PF Northern Province secretary Everest Chellah thanked Mr Yaluma for the gesture and handed over the vehicle to the party’s Mungwi District chairperson Joseph Chiluba and challenged him to look after it carefully so that it achieved its intended purpose.
