ZAMBIA Under-20 soccer coach Hector Chilombo says the three-day stint, which eight of his players had with the senior national team this week, has given the lads motivation and hunger to work hard.
Speaking after yesterday’s morning training session, Chilombo said the effect the Chipolopolo call up had on the players was unimaginable because the players have come back looking motivated and making a difference in training.
Zambia hosts Malawi in the final round, return leg of the Senegal 2015 Africa Youth Championship on August 31 and Chipolopolo coach Honour Janza had summoned eight from the victorious 2-1 winning side to train with the national team.
“The players are back and they look really motivated. That senior national team call up has really motivated them, they are making a difference in training and pushing their friends on. They also look sharp,” Chilombo said.
Janza had initially called Patrick Ngoma, Abraham Mwamba and Kayawe Kapota but went on to summon Mangani Banda, Larry Bwalya, Saith Sakala, Charles Zulu and Spencer Sautu to his squad after chasing the five players.
“In the practice game we played against Matero United, the guys looked determined and I think they are in the right frame of mind for the return game against Malawi,” he said.
In that practice match, Zambia won 2-0 with goals from Ngoma and Fred Sakala.
