THE Government has commenced the implementation of e-government which will promote the e-participation and e-consultation in policy and decision making process with its citizen. Communication, Transport, Works and Supply Deputy Minister Panji Kaunda said the Zambian government had started implementing the e-government model with phase 1 focusing on all Government ministries. Speaking in Lusaka during the launch of ISAT Africa Zambia Limited, Colonel Kaunda said the execution of the e-government would enable the Government to reach its people with a view to promote e-participation and e-consultation in the policy and decision making. He said the Government would continue to provide an enabling environment in the telecommunication sector in order to allow competition for the benefit of the Zambian people. The 2030 document specifies one of its key objectives as establishing knowledge -based economy that is fully competitive, dynamic, robust and resilient in an integrated global and liberal environment. The deputy minister said the launch of ISAT Zambia Africa marks another milestone in the development of the telecommunication sector in Zambia. Speaking at the same function Wananchi Group chief executive officer Richard Alden said ISAT Zambia believes in providing the appropriate solution to the Zambian economy. This will help maintain a high quality service and making it as cost effective as possible.
