THE Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASOFA) is organising about 500 soccer fans to cheer the Under-20 national team that plays Malawi on Saturday in a Senegal 2015 Africa Youth Championship final round, first leg qualifier.
ZASOFA strongman Peter Makembo said he was confident that the team will carry the day and earn the qualification but that it was important to motivate them.
Makembo said he would mobilise other fans based in Chipata, Lilongwe and Blantyre to ensure that the players are given the needed support as they play in front of a home crowd.
“Everything has been put in place to ensure as many fans as possible travel to Blantyre and give the boys the needed support. Fans in Chipata are expected to cross the border on Friday while Zambians in Malawi have also been communicated to and will come in their numbers,” he said.
Makembo said the boys will need to put up a good performance to ensure qualification for the African Youth Championship which also acts as qualifiers for the World Youth finals.
Meanwhile, the team is today expected to reach Blantyre after making a stop over a long drive from Lusaka.
Coach Hector Chilombo declared his side that will be missing the services of skipper Lubambo Musonda and Benedict Chepeshi ready for the encounter set for the Kamuzu Stadium.
Kabwe Warriors midfielder Langton Mbewe will be captain the team that has goalkeepers Mangani Banda and Lawrence Mulenga with the defenders being Boyd Mkandawire, Peter Mulenga, Paul Phiri, Simon Tembo, Kayawe Kapota and Alex Mwamba.
Midfielders are Kelvin Chinyama, Chuma Mutale, Spencer Sautu, Langton Mbewe, Larry Bwalya, Charles Zulu, Austin Muwowo while the strikers are Davie Daka, Patrick Ngoma and Seth Sakala.
