ECOBANK Zambia has opened a branch in Ndola under its ambitious expansion programme.
Ecobank managing director Jolone Okorodudu said the opening of the branch in Ndola was in line with the growth of the city into an industrial capital of the country.
She said at the bank’s cocktail to officially open the branch held for clients and media on Monday evening that opening the Ndola office was timely to support the city establish itself as the industrial capital.
‘‘As Ecobank, we believe that our presence in Ndola is very timely, to support Ndola establish itself as the industrial capital of the country and we look forward to contribute towards the envisaged growth of the town,’’ Ms Okorodudu said.
She said the bank was also contributing to the economy of the country through capacity building of the staff.
The 147 members of staff at the bank, Ms Okorodudu said, benefited from various training programmes in the Ecobank Group through online
and staff exchange programmes.
She said the bank would soon be expanding to North Western, Southern and Eastern provinces when it opens its branches in Mazabuka, Chipata and Solwezi.
Ms Okorodudu said the bank was offering various services to its clientele which included a new product of Western Union on retail internet banking.
Other products on the market were rapid transfer, a product that allowed clients to transfer and receive funds to and from any of the 35 Ecobank affiliates in Africa among others.
Ms Okorodudu said she was hopeful that the bank’s clients and potential clients shared in its vision of pan Africanism and would continue using Ecobank for services within and outside Zambia.
Ecobank is this year celebrating five years in Zambia and it has nine branches in Lusaka, Central and Copperbelt Provinces.
