A LOCAL shopping centre manager has challenged the training institutions to introduce a Diploma programme that will train shopping centre managers in Zambia.
Arcades Shopping Centre manager Patrick Nsama said since the shopping centre industry in Zambia was growing in complexity and size, there was need to have local learning institution taking up the challenge to start training shopping centre managers.
In an interview in Lusaka, Mr Nsama said currently the retail industry was significantly contributing to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), hence the need to sustain its growth.
“It is important to note that the retail industry in Zambia contributes quite well to the GDP of the country and, therefore, it is an industry that needs to be sustained,” he said.
Mr Nsama said there was need for more people to take up the role of shopping managers so that the industry can be sustained.
He said it was important for the local institution to introduce a course in shopping centre management for the benefit of both the investors and customers.
Mr Nsama said he would like to see more existing shopping centre managers taking up the course or even other career men and women who wish to experience something fresh on the market.
