By MOSES CHIMFWEMBE –
MPUMALANGA Black Aces coach Clive Barker has tipped Chipolopolo striker Collins Mbesuma to shine for his new South African club that kicks off the 2014/2015 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign this afternoon.
Mbesuma, who joined Black Aces on a two-year contract from Orlando Pirates last month, begins his Aces career with a date at Bloemfontein Celtic’s Free State Stadium in the opening fixture of the season.
Barker curbed any doubts about the Zambian striker’s impact at his new club and issued a warning to the rest of the Premiership to watch out.
He said Mbesuma will form one of the deadliest partnerships with Zimbabwean striker Tendai Ndoro in the South Africa’s top flight football.
“You don’t get better than the Mbesuma-Ndoro partnership. I think this partnership will be the most exciting in South Africa this year,” Barker told Kickoff.com.
The 1996 Africa Cup winning coach said Mbesuma would use his wealth of experience to aid the youthful Ndoro.
Ndoro also showered praise on the former Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs hitman, saying he was enjoying his combination with Mbesuma.
The Zimbabwean said he would be able to learn a lot from Mbesuma and revealed that the two already have an understanding up front.
“It has been great playing alongside Mbesuma in training. We understand each other well and I hope that we will both be able to help the club to do well. He is very experienced and we are getting on well.
We will certainly be going for a win. We must start the season on a positive note. Collecting three points on Sunday would be an ideal start,” He said.
Meanwhile, Chipolopolo first choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene was on the bench as Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 1-all draw by Maritzburg United on Friday night and there was no place for Mukuka Mulenga and Hichani Himoonde whose futures at the club remain uncertain.— KICK OFF
